Packing your own boxes

Pro Movers can pack as much or as little as you like. Packing your things can help save time on move day. When you start the packing process be organized. donate, sell, get rid of items you don't need or use anymore. Begin gathering supplies well before your move date, like sturdy boxes, packing tape, wrapping paper, bubble wrap, and markers.

You will want to start packing items you don’t use often. Use smaller boxes for heavy things like books and tools, and bigger boxes for lighter things like linens, clothes, pillows and Tupperware. There are special boxes that you can use to help keep your items safe:

  • TV boxes: If you have the original TV box great use that. If not you can purchase TV boxes that have padding to protect your television.
  • Wardrobe boxes: These boxes typically are 4 to 5 ft. tall and have a bar inside to hang your clothes on, keeping your clothes wrinkle-free,.
  • Mirror and picture boxes: There are different types of picture and mirror boxes the best are the 4 piece type that adjust exactly to the picture, mirror, or piece of glass you are packing.  Make sure to use quilted paper or bubble wrap to protect these items. If you have oil paintings using an acid-free glassine in front of the oil paint is recommended.
  • Dish Boxes: These are sturdy, heavy-duty triple wall boxes used to protect all your valuable and breakable items so you can be sure everything arrives safe and sound.

Labeling each box is very important. Could you make sure to label the side of each box with the room and its contents so our movers can put the boxes in the  room you want it to go to into the new home? Adding labels like "Fragile" for breakable items is also a good idea. Using different color stickers for each room is another thing that can help you when unpacking later.

Packing yourself can help save a lot of money and also help you keep track of your belongings. Start early and pack often it takes a lot of time but will also make moving into your new home easier and more organized.

Partial Packing

Partial packing is often the way most people, who are moving choose to have their packing done. Most of our customers want to save a few bucks by packing the non-breakable things themselves and leaving the breakable items they are not comfortable packing or don't feel confident packing to the professionals. Pro Movers are happy to pack as much or as little as you like. Packing some of your boxes you can save a lot of money. If you have the time and energy to do some of the packing start with the non-breakable items like books, clothes, linens, pillows, pots and pans, flatware, tools, and other items that are not easily damaged.

Building Protection

Some movers try to cut corners when it comes to protecting the buildings we move in and out of. Pro Movers never cut's corners.  We take the time to install floor, wall, railing, and stair protection to prevent the chance of damage during the move.

We install floor runners or carpet shields to prevent scratches and dings on hardwood floors, chipped or broken tiles, and stains on carpets. This protection stays in place during the move, so there is a much lower chance of damage to the building.

Pro Movers installs wall protection using padding or cardboard corner protectors to cover corners, which helps prevent dents and damage from moving furniture or boxes. This keeps your walls looking good and avoids the need for any costly repairs.

We wrap your railings in padding or use railing guards to prevent scratches from furniture or large items being carried up or down the stairs.  We install stair tread protection or use heavy-duty cardboard to cover each step, providing traction and protecting against damage to carpets or hardwood surfaces.

We want to leave your building in the same condition as when we arrived. We take the time to install the floor, wall, railing, and stair protection so we have a better chance of not damaging your property and providing a better moving experience for all our customers.
